Admissions Timeline
St. Michael’s main entry years are Grade 7 and Grade 9. Placement for up to 100 students is available for Grade 7, and 125 students for Grade 9. The application deadline to ensure a late February notification is December 15.
Applications for all grades are accepted throughout the year, with notification to follow.
The Admissions Committee bases its decisions on information gathered from four areas:
1. the completed application form;
2. copies of final report cards from the previous two academic years, and a copy of the most recent report card(s) for the present academic year;
3. the completed Student Profile Sheet (to be completed and sent in confidence to St. Michael’s by the candidate’s present school); and
4. the results of the SSAT, the Secondary School Admission Test for applicants to Grade 7, 8 or 9.
St. Michael’s seeks well-rounded boys with a history of solid academics. Successful candidates typically have an academic average of B or better (above the Provincial standard) and carry an array of co-curriculars in areas such as music, athletics, community service, art, public speaking, etc.
St. Michael’s is a Catholic boys’ school under the direction of the Basilian Fathers. Evidence of a candidate’s faith life is an essential criteria for admission.
Although space is limited, there are possibilities for admission to Grades 8, 10, 11 and 12. The space availability varies from year to year, and by grade.
