The Basilian Fathers’ Entrance Scholarships

For each entry year, grades 7 and 9, and based on the results of the SSAT, the admissions with the highest six scores will receive scholarship.  Scholarship values will reflect the positioning of the recipients from first to sixth.  The top scholarship will be valued at $3,500, second and third at $2,500 and fourth through sixth at $2,000 each. 

The Basilian Fathers’ Exit Scholarships ($12,000 in total)

The Father Matthew Mulcahy Scholarship 

Awarded annually by the Basilian Fathers to the graduating student with the highest academic average on six Grade 12 SMCS subjects. 

The Father Albert Butler Scholarship  

Awarded annually by the Basilian Fathers to the graduating student with the second highest academic average on six Grade 12 SMCS subjects. 

The Father Joseph Penny Scholarship 

Awarded annually by the Basilian Fathers to the graduating student with the third highest academic average on six Grade 12 SMCS subjects. 

The Edmond Odette - Fr. Thomas Mohan Scholarship 

Awarded annually through the E. & G. Odette Foundation to one or more students entering Grade nine.  Based upon a combination of three criteria: good academics, a healthy participation in extra-curricular school activities and in school athletics.  Individual application must be made through the Office of Admissions and Scholarships.  This scholarship is renewable at the discretion of the Selection Committee, the Principal and in accordance with the Edmond Odette - Fr. Thomas Mohan Scholarship Fund guidelines. 

Initial scholarship values and renewed scholarship values can vary among recipients and from year to year.

The St. Michael’s Academic Awards  

Awarded annually by the Basilian Fathers to the individuals attaining the top five academic averages in each grade level from Grade 7 to Grade 11.

The Basilian Book Awards
 
Awarded annually to individuals who attain a 90.0 % academic average or better, but do not receive a St. Michael’s Academic Award (i.e. are not in the top five academic averages in their grade).  Each Basilian Book Award is valued at $300.  

Graduation Awards

Every year there are numerous awards valued at $200 given to members of the graduating class for their contributions in many disciplines: music, art, history, industrial arts, Catholic ideals and values, integrated faith and culture, humanitarian qualities, debate and public speaking as well as to the student with the highest average of the graduating class.

The Marc Santi Memorial
 
Scholarship ($4000) 
 
Awarded annually to the graduating student whose life at St. Michael’s College School encompasses academics, athletics, and spiritual experience in a special way, as was depicted by Marc, a graduating student and President of the student council who passed away in the spring of 2001.  Awarded through the Marc Santi Foundation.  Application deadline is late May.  Applications should be forwarded to the Director of Admissions.
 
The Dr. William Anderson Exit Scholarship ($4000) 

Awarded annually through the Anderson family to a graduating student who has had a ‘well rounded’ career at St. Michael’s College School, desires to enter the life sciences at university aspiring to the medical field or a related health profession and is in need of financial assistance.  Dr. Anderson was a co-founder of MDS Health Group Ltd. as well as Vice-President of Medical Affairs at Toronto General Hospital.  Qualified applicants will be asked to compose a 250-word essay that speaks of how their sense of community and vision contribute to their goal and aspiration of entering the medical field.  Based on this essay, the eventual recipient will be chosen and will receive the scholarship and a commemorative plaque.  The deadline for application and submission of essays is late May.  Application and essay should be forwarded to the Director of Admissions.

The Dr. Joseph K. McConnon Spirit Scholarship
 
Awarded annually to a deserving student entering Grade 7 or Grade 9 who demonstrates a faith life committed to the teachings of Jesus Christ and His Church.  Dr. McConnon’s concern was “that able boys of limited financial means be given the opportunity of a superior, challenging academic experience in a Catholic context.”  In memory of Dr. Joseph McConnon who served as President of the St. Michael's College School Parents’ Guild from 1988 to 1990.  All four of Dr. McConnon’s sons are graduates of St. Michael's College School.  Scholarship values vary from year to year.  The identities of scholarship recipients will be held in confidence.
 
St. Michael’s College School Bursary Program

The St. Michael’s Bursary Program offers funds for tuition for students attending St. Michael’s in all grade levels and who are in financial need. For new applicants to the school, applications completed and received by December 15 will result in Bursary value notification being sent with the offer of admission.  There will be no Bursary value notification if admission is not offered.
