St. Michael's Announces the Father Rocco Volpe Bursary
The Father Rocco Volpe Bursary was established in 2007 in memory of Father Volpe who passed away in July 2007.  Father Volpe was a former student, teacher, coach and chaplain at St. Michael's College School.  A kind and gentle man, who will always be remembered by his welcoming smile, Father Volpe spent much of his life devoted to the teaching profession.  He was known for his love of athletics, the arts, languages and learning, and was especially proud of his Italian heritage.  Father Volpe played an instrumental role in the founding of the Italian Club at St. Michael's College School, a Club which has been in existence since the early 1960’s. He was also instrumental in starting the Italian language courses. This Bursary was established in consultation with Father Volpe's family.  Donations made to commemorate Father Volpe’s 50th ordination, in memoriam, and for the Bursary will be invested by St. Michael’s College School and the interest are used to finance the Bursary Fund. Father Volpe, the son of Italian immigrants to Toronto was the first in his family to attend university.
