Our Campus

St. Michael’s College School is situated at the northeast corner of Bathurst Street and St. Clair Avenue in mid-town Toronto. Spread across 10 acres of land, the campus houses the main school building, St. Michael’s Arena, and the Eugene Melnyk Sports Field. Given our proximity to the downtown core, the campus is easily accessible by car and public transportation.

The community of St. Michael’s shares in what many believe to be a historic site. Ernest Cormier, a well renowned architect of his time, designed the main school building that opened in September 1950. The building was extensively renovated and expanded from 1995-2000.

The main building consists of a 200,000 square-foot building outfitted with state-of-the-art classrooms that include LCD data projectors, computer labs, the Odette Library, the 250-seat Campeau Lecture Hall with stage, technology design work areas, chapel, cafeteria, guidance and learning centre, and a sports injury clinic.  For inquiries regarding this facility, please contact Ian Smith at smith@smcsmail.com or at 416-653-3180 Ext. 129.

The music department includes two main classrooms, rehearsal rooms, private practice studios, a state-of-the-art MIDI Lab, the Media Arts Lab, and the Carmichael-Babiak recording studio.

The school arena is located in the middle of the campus running north-south. The 45,000 square foot arena is a single-pad facility with an ice surface of 180 x 80 feet with seating capacity for 1000 people. The facility also includes the school store, “Old Boys” lounge, snack bar, pro shop, a small workout room, and Financial and Accounting offices.  For inquiries regarding this facility, please contact Rob Tunney at tunney@smcsmail.com or at 416-653-3180 Ext. 422.

The Eugene Melnyk Sports Field runs north-east/south-west on the east side of our campus. The facility includes a 400 metre rubberized track, a regulation size football field, a large outdoor play area and a seating capacity for 1000 spectators.  In the summer of 2004, alumnus Eugene Melnyk donated $1.8 Million to St. Michael’s to upgrade the field with new state-of-the-art artificial grass, stadium lights, sound system, and an electronic scoreboard. During the winter months, one-third of the field is covered with a winterized dome, allowing for an indoor, artificial-grass playing field.  For inquiries regarding this facility, please contact Ian Smith at smith@smcsmail.com or at 416-653-3180 Ext. 129.

Our gymnasium is located at the north-east end of the main school building, adjacent to the arena. The facility includes a 10,000 square foot double gymnasium with seating capacity for 500 spectators. The gym is accessible through the athletic corridor in the basement of the school, or through the exterior doors at the north-east corner of the main school building. The athletic corridor of the school includes the modern Enzo Montemurro Fitness Facility, which is equipped with a variety of strength and conditioning equipment.

The Centre for the Arts, located at the north-west corner of the School, is among Toronto’s finest theatrical venues. The generosity of the School’s supporters led to the development of a theatre with a 440 seating capacity, intimate interior design, finely tuned acoustics and a fly system. The Centre provides an excellent setting for artistic plays, musical performances, presentations and other large or small productions. For inquiries regarding this facility, please contact Steven Cline at cline@smcsmail.com or at 416-653-3180 Ext. 213.
