The SMCS Drumline was founded in the fall of 2005. This ensemble was created to encourage excellence and teamwork in our young men, add a new energy to school spirit at sporting and community events as well as offer the school increased visibility in the Greater Toronto area.
Performance Highlights
Since the ensemble was founded in 2005 the Drumline has had some tremendous opportunities to perform at sporting events and cultural events in Ontario and abroad. Each year the drumline performs at school sporting events and pep rallies, and also many local parades, community festivals, and even weddings. The Drumline performs at many Toronto Argonauts and Toronto Blue Jays games each year, with media coverage on TSN, Rogers Sportsnet, City TV, and American sports networks. They have also performed with recording artist Matt Dusk.
Through our partnership with Yamaha Music Canada, the Drumline has appeared at major educational festivals and conferences performing rudimental drumming and marching percussion clinics with Michael Beauclerc. The SMCS Drumline’s prominent visibility in these events and the community has lead to several local and national schools to follow our lead and investigate the formation of a similar marching percussion group. Highlights include the National Arts Centre in Ottawa, Michigan drumline Championships, and Sherbrooke University.
