Yearbook The Yearbook Club is looking for editors for the 2011-12 Yearbook. This is a great opportunity to put your creativity to good use! Interested students will learn how to use InDesign. Please see Mr. De Pellegrin or Mr. Gonzales in the Communications Office, across from Fr. Redican's office if you would like to be a yearbook editor.
U14 Basketball The U14 Blue Raiders played their final game before the Christmas Break on Thursday afternoon. Their hard work and tenacious defence paid off as the rolled to a 47-24 victory over Crescent School. Marcus Yurchuk led all scorers with 14 points. Commendations go out to Miles Ketembe and Jaeden Washington for their defensive efforts. Their next game action is on January 16th at RSGC. Players are asked to consult their First Class accounts for the holiday gym schedule.

Sr. Lacrosse The Varsity Blue Gaels would like to announce that Grade 12 lacrosse midfielder Justin DeMarchi has committed to attend university and play NCAA lacrosse at Denison University in Granville, Ohio. Justin will suit up for the Big Red in 2012, who compete in the NCAC, and will be playing for renowned Denison Head Coach and U.S. National Team Assistant Coach, Mike Caravana. Justin has been a model student at St. Michael's, and has garnered several character and sportsmanship awards including the True Sport Fair Play Award at the 2011 OFSAA Championships, and the Ontario Lacrosse Association Jamieson Kuhlmann Award for academics, athletics and citizenship. The Blue Gaels will look to Justin this Spring to help the two-time defending OFSAA Champions return to the provincial podium
Lacrosse All Varsity, Jr. and U14 lacrosse players interested in participating in the upcoming spring season are invited to “Bubble Lax” in the field dome after the holidays. Workouts will begin the very first Monday back from holidays, and will continue every Monday and Tuesday thereafter. Bubble Lax begins January 9th!

Grade 9 Music Students Applications for the Gr. 9 Music trip to Chicago in April will be available in your First Class folder by the end of the day today. The application due date is Monday, December 19th.
SMC Robotics On Saturday, the SMC Robotics went down the QEW to St. Catharines to compete in the Southern Ontario VEX Robotics Competition. In an exciting and very competitive tournament, the St. Mike's teams made great strides from the Toronto competition of a couple of weeks ago. The rebuilt and improved robots performed as expected. At the end of the day, the teams placed well, but not enough for the play-offs. Their next competition is in February 2012. |
