The SMCS Summer Experience provides youth with exciting academic, athletic, and artistic outlets, as well as opportunities to learn and grow within a fun and interactive environment. 

Our summer programme provides youth with the skills, resources, and mentorship necessary to maximize their potential while learning valuable life lessons, core values, and making lasting friendships.  

SMCS Camps are staffed by respected professionals who are enthusiastic and committed to providing campers with meaningful and memorable experiences. 

Sports

Academics

Literacy Camp 

Cost: $275 + HST
Dates: August 22-26
SMCS students only 

The SMCS Literacy Camp provides students entering Grade 9 the opportunity to enhance their aptitude with the printed and spoken word. The programme was established to help students develop proficiency with their written, verbal, and visual communication skills, and cultivate competence in critical reading and text analysis.

Schedule:
Monday to Thursday 8:30 a.m. - 2:30 p.m.
Friday 8:30 a.m. - 12 p.m.  

Math Camp

Cost: $275 + HST 
Dates: August 15-19 
SMCS students only 

SMCS Math Camp offers students entering Grade 9 the opportunity to consolidate and strengthen their numeracy skills. The programme is designed to develop confidence with existing math skills, and ease the transition into secondary school mathematics. This camp is recommended for students who wish to strengthen and/or develop their math skills. 

Schedule:
Monday to Thursday 8:30 a.m. - 2:30 p.m.
Friday 8:30 a.m. - 12 p.m.

International Summer Academy ( Italy and France) 

Dates: Month of July 
Cost: $5,995 + insurance + HST 

SMCS Students only 

St. Michael’s offers summer courses in French, Italian, International Business, and World Politics. Language courses will be offered at the Grade 11 level, and in keeping with school regulations, International Business and World Politics, courses not offered during the day school programme, will be offered at the Grade 12 level.

Students registered at St. Michael’s will be granted permission to take part in the international summer programme if they meet course prerequisites. Students not attending St. Michael’s College School may be considered for participation in the programme.

The Summer Academy is therefore intended for young men filled with academic curiosity who wish to explore beyond the confines of a traditional classroom. They will receive the opportunity to expand their intellectual and cultural horizons. Students will gain an opportunity to study in historically significant centres, international in nature, and culturally stimulating. All programming is intended to prepare students, in the traditional St. Michael’s College School fashion, for future study in their chosen field.

Music

Yamaha Sounds of Summer Drumline Camp 

Dates: August 22-24 (Grades 7-12) | $100 + HST 
Open to all students 

St. Michael's College School Drumline and Yamaha Canada Music, in partnership with the Canadian Drumline Association will be hosting a "Sounds of Summer" drumline camp. The camp is open to all a students in Grades 7-12. No experience is necessary. Participant fee is $100 for three days and lunches and all equipment are included. Novice Music Camp |  July 10-14 |  Cost: $425 + HST   

The Novice Music camp helps aspiring musicians improve their skills in a fun and exciting environment. Our staff of professional musicians will guide campers through daily sessions including warm-up techniques, group instruction, band repertoire, chamber music (duets, trios, etc.), and an introduction to music appreciation. Sessions in Latin and African drumming and rehearsals leading to a closing day concert are all part of this musical experience. All wind, brass and percussion players with one-year of experience are welcome.

Intermediate Music Camp | July 17-21 | Cost: $425 + HST

The Intermediate Music camp helps aspiring musicians improve their skills in a fun and exciting environment. Our staff of professional musicians will guide campers through daily sessions including warm-up techniques, group and sectional rehearsals, band repertoire, chamber music (duets, trios, etc.), and analysis of famous recordings. Clinics on composition, jazz, improvisation, sight-reading, and music theory rehearsals leading to a closing day concert will also be offered.  All wind, brass and percussion instrumentalists with 2-3 years of experience are welcome. The level of the curriculum will be tailored to the abilities of the individual and the group as a whole.

Art Camp |  July 10-14 |  Cost: $425 + HST | Ages 10+

The Art Camp offers a creative and innovative programme that will inspire young artists. With projects ranging from painting to sculpting, to contemporary art forms including silk screening and graffiti. The programme promotes creativity and exploration through engaging activities, introducing new art forms each day.
