On Thursday, June 28, 178 Grade 12 St. Michael's College School students received their graduation diplomas, becoming our newest alumni as members of the Class of 2018.
The event began with a baccalaureate Mass at Holy Rosary, celebrated by Fr. Thompson, CSB '79, Fr. May, CSB and Deacon, Mr. Robert Tunney '81. Following Mass, Grade 12 students enjoyed a Grad lunch in the cafeteria with faculty and staff. Once lunch concluded, families, friends, faculty, staff, and students gathered in the school gymnasium for the Graduation Ceremony.
Mr. Nick Di Donato, OSM '76, CEO and President of the Liberty Entertainment Group, addressed the class of 2018, discussing his time at the school and how being a student at SMCS left a lasting impression on him and how it directly impacted his success in life. Students were then individually invited on stage to receive their St. Michael's College School Diplomas and Graduation Medallions. Throughout the ceremony, 62 awards were given to graduating students for achieving academic excellence, community service achievements, and embodying the true spirit of SMCS. To conclude the ceremony, Jacob Kennedy '18 addressed fellow classmates with his Valedictorian speech.
Once the ceremony concluded, our newest alumni kept with tradition and processed out through the Students' Arch for the very first time.
On behalf of Basilian Fathers and the St. Michael's College School Community, we extend our heartfelt congratulations to our Class of 2018!
