In Memoriam - Fr. Brian Higgins '45

The St. Michael’s College School family has been deeply saddened by the death of our dear friend Fr. Brian Higgins, CSB.

Fr. Brian Higgins graduated from St. Michael’s College School in 1945 and soon after joined the Basilian community and was ordained in June 1954.

From 1955-1962, Fr. Brian served on the St. Michael’s faculty, teaching Religion, Physics, and Mathematics. He had a great passion for sports and the development of the student-athlete, coaching football and hockey, and also serving as the school’s Director of Athletics and chaplain for the Toronto St. Michael’s Majors.

In addition to his service to St. Michael's, Fr. Higgins was Principal of Basilian schools in Sault Ste. Marie, Sudbury, and Windsor, where he demonstrated a lively and passionate devotion to the St. Michael's and Basilian motto, ‘Teach Me Goodness, Discipline, and Knowledge’. Following his retirement from teaching, Fr. Higgins continued his pastoral ministry at Henry Carr Farm.

In April 2012, St. Michael’s College School was proud to bestow its highest honour upon Fr. Higgins by inducting him into the Order of St. Michael.

On behalf of the Basilian Fathers of St. Michael's and the entire St. Michael’s College School community, our thoughts and prayers are with the Higgins family.

Arrangements are as follows:

Visitation: Tuesday evening, November 8, in the Chapel of the Flahiff Centre, Toronto. Prayer at 7:30 PM.

Funeral Mass: Wednesday, November 9 at 10:00 AM, in the Chapel of the Flahiff Centre, Toronto.
