Students, parents, alumni, faculty, staff, and visitors to St. Michael’s College School (SMCS) will experience plenty of new and notable ‘firsts’ at the second 2nd Archangel’s Den Alumni Entrepreneur Contest, taking place on Wednesday, June 5, 2019.
The event provides SMCS graduates 30 years of age and under with the opportunity to present their business idea to a panel of judges for the chance to win a cash prize as well as ongoing support via professional expertise for their product or idea.
The Alumni Association announced the first Archangel’s Den Alumni Entrepreneur Contest, a Shark Tank-type initiative at SMCS in 2018.
Here’s a sneak peek at ‘what’s new’ on the 2019 Archangel’s Den menu:
1. Keynote address
Experienced entrepreneurs in a growing industry share the story of running their own business.
2. Five Finalists
A total of five teams will be vying for one of the top three spots that come with a cash prize and a product mentor.
3. Product Mentors
Each of the top three winners will be paired with a Product Mentor, following the competition, for ongoing support, advice, and potential product commercialization.
4. Prize Money
The total purse of $15,000 comes from the generosity of SMCS Alumni.
5. Start Time
This year’s event will be held in the evening, starting at 5:30 p.m.
Four of the six judges are new to the Archangel’s Den.
The criteria that each judge will evaluate pitch teams on has been revamped to include six specific areas: Viability, Solution, Market, Team, Pitch, and Q&A.
A structured networking component has been added for this year’s event. It will take place several times throughout the evening.
9. Experienced Entrepreneurs
All members of the six-person judging panel are experienced entrepreneurs.
It is open to all members of the SMCS community.
